Many people may not remember Anthony Steffen. Maybe you’d already seen him acting on some old spaghetti western movie in the ’60s or ’70s; or on a TV rerun, in the ’80s. Or, perhaps, you’d just met him on an old VHS tape from years ago; or even on a freshreleased DVD. It doesn’t matter: the avenging cowboy played by Steffen has always been around; even though only a few people can still remember his real name — Antonio Luiz de Teffé — and his mixed Italian and Brazilian origin. Surviving World War II, de Teffé reached silver-screen stardom in Europe, seduced many gorgeous women and finally died, far away from the spotlights, in Rio de Janeiro. Despite this fact, the 64 movies he appeared in — including 26 juicy spaghetti westerns — are highly praised nowadays, in Germany, Italy, Japan and in the United States. Get ready to face Django, Sabata, Ringo, Garringo and many other heroes and villains performed by Anthony Steffen, in a book that brings back the Golden Age of spaghetti western movies and tells — for the first time — the true story of the average man that became an idol of the European cinema.
